Default Questions about Paducah Quilt show

My SIL and I are going to the Paducah show this year for the first time, and we would like to know what the parking, and getting around is like. Can you park in one place and walk from venue to venue, or are they too far apart to walk? And if so, is parking an issue? Do they have a shuttle? Any of you ladies who have been, please give us the scoop! And thanks!

I have never had a problem with parking, and there are shuttles. One time it was raining, and they had canopied golf carts to take us to our cars.

I have been some years ago. We didn't have a problem with parking. Lots of places to eat, we had a great time. Make sure you make your hotel reservation early as most places fill up fast. The only thing I found a bit of a set back was the heat. The air conditioning was not adequate and you had to go from room to room and up and down to get to all the places. Lots of bottles necks with crowds of people etc...it was hot.

Only been there once, I went in 2011, but that was the year the waters were so high that the locations of events was scattered around the town. The shuttles did run from place to place even with the spreadout locations and we had a really great time. I would love to go again,

There is parking near the convention center. Some pay up close. I dont like to pay so park away and walk. OK if not too hot or raining. There are free shuttle buses that run a variety of routes all centering around the bus tent at the center. You can pick up a schedule on some of the buses or at the bus tent at the convention center. There is a good Paducah booth at the entrance to the center and the assistors usually wore red coats. They will have all kinds of helpful info.

Hancocks of Paducah is another place to park and ride. Many of the buses go there.

But best is to park somewhere around the convention center to save valuable time. You can then see the show and maybe take a shuttle to give a rest to your feet and see some other part like Eleanor Burns, the Rotary show or such.

I just went first time last year. Debating on whether to go again this year or not as i am planning a trip to missouri too. There was no parking issue at all getting there about 9:00a.m. There is a shuttle to take you around. My biggest advice if you see something you like don't wait, buy it then. I waited til I seen it all and then didn't end up buying hardly anything. It is awesome and I hope you go and have a wonderful time. If you don't have a room lined up better start scouting now. I stayed at Marion,Il. About 45 minutes out but no issues. Pm me if I can be of any help. Now that I know the lay of the land, it is helpful. Most of the tents and vendors are all on the north/ northeast, side.I think, I would have to look for sure. Paducah quilt show has a nice map online that is helpful.so be sure to check it out. most all the food is by the big tent of vendors. Have fun.

Thanks- we've had our reservations for a couple of months already. And we're still about 40 minutes away. Can't wait!

I go every year but can't this year! My guild is having a retreat the same week. I park at Hancock's and then catch the bus to go to Eleanor's big tent sale. Her shop is downtown closer to the Convention center. When I go to the quilt show I park at the convention center. It's an easy walk to the museum and downtown to the other shops. Caryl Bryer Fallert's studio is right across from the Convention center. The buses run often but they take a lot of time so if you are there for just a day or two it's faster to drive. The mall has a lot of vendors and the mall vendors seem to have lower prices. The reason I park at Hancocks is it stays open late and the parking lot is open. E Burns use to be at the fairground and it closed the gates at 6 pm. It's easy to drive in the town and lots of parking in the museum lot and a big lot at the center where Ricky Timms performs. All right there in walking distance.

If you have Google Earth you can see street views of the whole area. Even plan you walking on what sidewalks to take.
