Ok this top I have is from my Dad's mom. I was going to hand quilt it since his grandmother started it and his mom finished the top and I was going to quilt and bind it. I had already started it and then decided I did not like it and I took it all apart, re sandwiched it using the basting spray and there it sits. I have not touched it in months and now I do not think I have enough time to finish it before Christmas. It was going to be his Christmas gift. The problem was is that I thought it was to plain and I need some design to use. Anybody quilted one of these? Thanks very much, I am hoping for some great inspiration from you guys. :D

The antique one I grew up with was outline quilted just inside the white part. I'm trying to remember what else if anything was done in those fairly large white spaces. I know it crinkled from the shrinkage of the cotton batting, but I don't remember a quilted design other than the outline quilting, unless maybe it was just parallel lines about an inch or so apart.

A simple floral design in the large white parts, outline quilting everywhere else.

I have no suggestions for quilting but I would love to see a pic. Three generations in that quilt.

The one my DGM made me was quilted 1/4in along each seam which adds to the design. I think anymore quilting than that takes away from the original design. That's just my humble opinion.
