Questions for Pfaff Owners

My Pfaff (2134) does the same thing so I use leader pieces or recently someone on this board suggested pulling on the threads which really works well for me. Also, as someone said chain piecing eliminates this. Haven't tried the other throat plate and so far have been able to work around it. I do use the IDT for piecing unless I need to ease some fabric for a better fit.

Thanks for the input. I will try to get into the habit of doing a leader piece and see if that solves my problem and yes I probably should try new needle it does seem like that long ago I replaced it, but it probably has been too long. I have been using the IDT and that seems to be what most do.

I love my straight stitch plate--I have the 1473 (and now the QE 4.0). I'm waiting for the straight stitch plate for the new one to come in. It's a simple matter to change it and it really does help with issues like this. I love my Pfaff's!

Me too on all of this. Also might try a smaller needle. Maybe the needle is too large and is pushing the fabric down rather than going through it.

I had the same machine until Jan when one of the boards died that they can't replace. It would only do it if you started it right on the edge of the fabric for me. Otherwise it was great. I miss it. I do have a Pfaff 2.0 now. Very nice as well.[/quote]
Have you checked with a authorized Pfaff dealer? I think you can get a board replaced. PM my and I will give you name of Pfaff store in Spartanburg, SC, I have my machine served at this store.

i had the same problem when i first started using my pfaff expressions 2..i did purchase the plate with the single hole and it helps...it also helps to hold tightly on the thread when you first start piecing...i had the hardest time with this issue when i was piecing very small pieces of fabric...i think i have overcome this issue with practice and like i said, i hold onto both threads very tightly when i first strart piecing...i always keep the idt engaged as well...i hope it all works out:-)

I use IDT for piecing.
I have a single hole plate which does help, but I agree with others that using a leader piece of fabric helps. It's just a habit for me. Saves on thread usage, too.
