I usually do log cabin type borders because I can never decide. Is there a reason for one over another? Is there a correct order? I need to border my Bargello...

Ahhh..I just saw this is posted already!! I haven't been over here in a bit. Sorry for the repeat question. I've got an answer--it doesn't matter! ;)

I just posted this on another topic:

It's a matter of preference how you do the borders. If you have a rectangle shaped quilt and you do the long sides first, then the top/bottom, it's supposed to take less yardage of fabric if you are cutting the fabric lengthwise. If I have enough, that's how I cut it myself. Piecing the borders is acceptable too, but some fabrics hide the seams better than others. If I've got more than one border, I do them all the same way.

Edit: here's a helpful site:

there's another thread on this same topic tonite...guess like minds thinking alike!! ;)

I sew both, depending on which piece i grab first. If i'm doing multiple borders, I do them all alike
