Default UFO's---Ugh

I am getting some UFO's done. Two down and working on the third. Some times there are reasons they are UFO's but I hate to have spent all that time and money to not get an end product. Most of them that I am looking at, I made a choice that I would not make as a more experienced quilter or I made a mistake and could not think of a work around. Last night it was a high loft batting with invisible thread.....yuck but I am soldiering through it. The other one had minkie and the binding would not go on straight. Next is HST that I just hate. For some reason, it is like dyslexia with me and triangles, it is a struggle to piece them the right direction.

I guess God wants me to learn better finished than perfect!

If you really just can't stand to finish some of them, bundle them up, call them a learning experience and drop them off to your local quilt guild. My guild finishes all kinds of incomplete projects and we end of with some great quilts for donation and you have the satisfaction of knowing someone loves your quilt. It's better than being left stuffed in a closet and you won't have wasted your money as it will be used.

I have so many UFOs (well over 20) and I am trying real hard to finish them...... just after I finish the three new ones on my design board

Most of them just need quilting, a few to finish piecing, none that I decided I didn't like and stopped working on. So little time and so many quilts!
peace

I only have one actual UFO left I've managed to finish up the rest of them- I do have a number of works in progress (WIP"S) but only that one UFO---it is now about 11-12 years old- it upsets me every time I come across the box it Is in-I have so much money wrapped up in it...almost $500 so I can't quite talk myself into giving it all away- but I really don't think I will ever finish it either...every now & then I think maybe I will ... it was a class gone wrong- instructor gave us a bunch of 'home work' to do, which I did- (using all silks & batiks) then we had the first class- and started some stitching- more 'home-work' cutting- then she cancelled the next 2 classes- then never came back- the shop did refund our class fee---but that did not do anything about the box full of cut up fabrics- it is an 'over-whelming' project...I keep thinking one day I will take the time to figure it out & do it...but then I am always working on other things...oh well- sorry I 'vented' on your post where you are doing a wonderful thing and getting your UFO's done.

I think all of us have UFOs that haven't been finished for good reason (as well as those that just got "bumped" for another project).

One of my first quilts is still waiting for me to develop the skill to do what I can envision but not yet accomplish. Maybe one day I will just let one of the talented long arm quilters on this board take care of it for me.

I can empathize. I think if I'd spent $500 for the fabric for a class that was subsequently cancelled, I'd be livid!

I have lots of UFOs but I still start new projects which will probably become UFOs, as well. Don't feel bad.

The way that I am able to catch up on my UFOs is this:

Finish one UFO and that allow you to start ONE new project. Finish that one then go back to finish another UFO. Just make it that you can NOT start a new project unless you get one UFO done. Works for me. Just finished a rage quilt that I was short on yardage for the backing that was over 10 years old.
