I like yardage because I want it to be my interpretation not their quilt. The kits do have an advantage, no pondering or worrying or running out of.. its all there.

I have never bought a quilt kit---I just buy patterns or books and yardage.

THe only kit per say that I have purchased is a white on white pre stenciled kit. It included a premarked top and the backing and binding. I rarely even buy patterns. I like to interrurpt other people's ideas in my own colors and combinations.

I've only bought and made one table runner from a kit. It was on sale for about $9.00 on Connecting Threads website and I needed to add $5-6 to my order to get free shipping. It was really nice. Their fabric is nice to work with and they give you plenty of fabric-definitely can wash it before using. Each piece was a little bigger than a FQ-I actually had fabric left over.

I bought one quilt kit, it was short on fabric so I had to go buy yardage. I prefer to chose my own fabrics and like to prewash all my fabric and can't do that with a kit. I also bought a kit for a wallhanging, it was a group thing, 4 of us bought the same one for our quilt weekend.

I buy yardage, too. I really enjoy the challenge of picking my own fabric for my projects; plus it's one of a kind.

I have always bought by the yard. When I started quilting, I was making mostly squares and got into the habit for quite some time.

I have never bought a kit, would love to but they are very expensive! maybe sometime soon. Sometimes I really love the patterns but not the fabric. I also worry about messing up

I haven't bought any kits as I'm afraid I'd miss-cut then what would I do? I would always rather have too much fabric than goof - which I'm prone to achieve.
