Default Quilt Show, Oct 2012 in PA

We are in the planning stages for Beaver Valley Piecemakers 18th Annual Quilt Show. It's being held at Holy family Parish 1851 3rd Ave. New Brighton, Pa 15066 on Qct. 12th, 13th, and 14th. I'm in charge of media advertising. How do you advertise your quilt shows? What is your biggest profit maker at the show? We have food, raffles, dream baskets, a boutique, and vendors.

I've seen them advertised in our local paper and flyers in LQS.

We do send out posters and flyers which is handled by the print advertising person. I'm trying my best to get the news out but, it's hard to get free media. Maybe some bloggers will post it for me. Alfsa421 I see your local please tell all your friends. I guess you have come to our show in the past. We used to be in brady's run Park but, we had to move it last year because it flodded and took out the bridge. Thanks for your support.

An idea for future marketing: For all attendees who provide their email, their slip goes into a drawing for a prize. Make it simple like a gift card to JoAnn's so it is easy to mail. Seems like there is a JoAnn's all over W PA and E OH.

Panera Bread sometimes allows flyers to be hung in the back of their stores.

Most of the LQS in the Greater Pgh area have websites or newsletters and you could ask them to put something out for you. And don't forget guilds, too and maybe church quilting groups. One other idea is to call the newspaper and ask if they would like to have a Sunday feature story about the quilting trends throughout history. You need to get their interest so don't let them hang up on you... talk about how 20 somethings are flocking to quilting and blogging about it on the internet, how quilts are art, the quilts used in the Underground Railroad, the international aspect of quilting and that gender, ethinicity, age or other stereotypical "Quilting GM" identifiers no longer exist, the charitable atmosphere in the quilting community around the world and that men including Ty Pennington from Extreme Home Makeover realizes that the quilting industry is a business opportunity. Good Luck and I hope to be there!

One of our local T.V. stations has a community calendar that advertises events close to the event date.
