my 38 year old cousin (my only female cousin) was diagnosed with Stage 1 lung cancer. Today she went in for surgery - they told her it was completely operable and looked good. Got in there and it is Stage 4 - Scar Adenocarcinoma - they removed the entire right upper lobe and part of the lower lobe and part of her diaphram.

My Aunt called and wants a quilt. I looked up the color for this type of cancer and it says "pearl"....what the heck is "pearl". I spent an hour in Hancock today starring at 100 different shades of White and still didn't find anything.

**I got permission :0) to buy new fabric for this one**

Suggestions on colors or prints? I just can't think right - I'm going to do the same ribbon pattern as I did below - its the one my Aunt wants....

I'm just not able to think because I want it to be perfect

I am so sorry about your cousin. The other quilt is so pretty. I don't have any ideas about what colors, but whatever it is, it will be beautiful. I'll keep this in my watched topics!

I am sending lots of love your way. I am sure any quilt you make will be cherished. As for color, maybe a cotton sateen would work since it has a slight sheen.

I am so sorry to hear about your cousin's diagnosis. I would forget about what color the quilt is supposed to be and just use your cousin's favorite colors. That is sure to cheer her up. The breast cancer ribbon quilt is beautiful. I'm sure the one you are about to make will be too, and will really boost her spirits.

First, I am SO sorry about your cousin's diagnosis and will be praying that she recovers well. I looked up the colors and here is a great site with all of them:

http://www.choosehope.com/category/b...or-cancer-type

I didn't know any of them except pink. It looks like Lung Cancer is "Clear and White" so I'm thinking any white would work....maybe some clear beads on center or something. OR Lavender is for ALL cancers so maybe lavender and white or even white with her favorite color. Whatever color you choose, I'm sure it will be breathtaking.

Thanks everyone - Oh Gail - this is perfect - I'm glad you found that and showed me - Purple shades with whites might just work. I do like the idea of the satin or shiney white someone just posted....

I knew you ladies would have some idea's for me....I feel better now - I got stuck...

Look at the fairy frosts and you might find a pearl fabric.
