My iron is so dirty and messed up that I can't get it cleaned! I have tried all the things that were written on this board! It is burnt into the plate! Has anyone used the Teflon plate that I have seen on (I think it is Joann's??) The iron is a good one and heats good and hot and doesn't shut off in 20 minutes (I have one of them!!!---hate it)
If some one has used the plate, let me know what you think of it! Will be cheaper than buying one (can't get one right now!)
Thanks

Have you tried an actual iron cleaning product??? My old iron was as dirty as yours sounds, and it cleaned mine up to almost new condition. You can find them at stores that sell irons and ironing products.

Years ago I had one of the Teflon plates that fit over the shoe of my iron. As I recall, it worked fine.

Will try that as soon as I get there! I have scrubbed it really good but it looks like it has eaten into the iron! I really do like this one and hate to get rid of it!

Not sure if you tried this, but just heating your iron & running it over & over on wax paper cleans up pretty much anything for me.

Thank you Prism99
If I can't get this clean I was thinking about trying that, just hadn't talked to anyone that has!
I really do like this iron. Heats good and is not real light weight (although it says GE Lightweight!) and not real heavy either!

What I've done in the past, have a old terry cloth towel folded and iron over the wax paper, then iron the towel. It's worked great for me.

try this: pour some salt on the wax paper, then iron over that, then on towel. works every time! if it's really bad, may have to repeat procedure.
