also www.quiltville.com has free patterns, some quilt as you go I think. and a book called Quilting in Sections is good and one called Reversible Quilts too. so many out there. try your library too.

This works for me, and I have made several quilts using this method. The piecing pattern has to be conducive to the design of having 1/2" connecting strips/sashing. With this method, you can quilt to the very edge of the block.

The "Lucky Stars" quilt and "Are We There Yet?" that I recently posted on the board and that are shown below were both made using this method. Lucky Stars has 12.5" blocks, and the other one is smaller.

For me "quilt as you go" makes the machine quilting manageable.

I love both of your quilts but couldn't find the Lucky Stars pattern on the website. Where am I not looking correctly?

Great resources! Quilt as you go is something I alternate when making tops. I'm so thankful for the video tutorials!

Try searching for the 6 hour quilt on YOUTUBE. It is fast and fun.

Do you have a link to teach how the binding technique you used is demonstrated?

Great idea! I like the idea of using the batting square in place of foundation paper. Great for log cabins and string quilts If you put a backing square at the back, you will have a reversible quilt!
The sashing part is a little troublesome though.
I will try this one day when I have enough mental strength of handle my scraps.
(Edited to add: Oh yes, saw the youtube tutorial on joining blocks without sashing. Cool!)

Get Cotton Theory book. Also watched a video on one of the sew channels this weekend on this topic and the gal that wrote the books on Cotton Theory was showing how it is done. I think I was on SewOnTV.com channel which I got from this list regarding online sewing shows.
