My name tag is very plain and I would love to see what others suggest. I would like to make a new one.

do you have embroidery machine? Put your name surrounded by a small frame or something that you like. Buttons, bugs, scissors. I made a few for my friend who teaches, each month she gets a new tag to go with holiday or special subject they are studing. Good Luck with your new job :-)

One simple way is to cut a small rectangle of a pastel or neutral color. Embroider name on that, Add 2 borders, one about an inch and the final one a half inch. Then using a small piece of batting and a back, sew 1/4 inch seam (that makes your second border look like binding), leaving small space to turn pillowcase style. Turn and add cute button to embellish if you want. Sew pin on back. Alternatives, print name on fabric and then continue instructions .You can also sew all around. then Carefully cut a small slit on back and turn through the slit. Cover slit with piece of felt (glued or stitched,) Even quicker: write your name (embroidery, fabric pen , or printer) on fabric cut into small rectangle or square with pinking shears. Place on slightly larger piece of contrasting felt (right side up); stitch all around, ,Embellish with button and put pin on back.

I love to drink tea so I made a paper pieced teapot with my name on it and I embroidered my name on it. Everyone seems to love it. There are so many paper pieced blocks to choose from. Consider doing that.

We are supposed to wear name tags at our guild meetings - everyone else has such clever ideas. My name tag is the one I got at the Houston Quilt Festival - at least it starts some interesting conversations.
