Ladies hope some of you can help - next week (Monday) is our Group meeting in town & as we have had alot of newcomers it has been decided that to help us remember each others names it would be a good idea to make our ownname badges.
Well I've searched the net & haven't come up with much - so I thought I know I'll ask you ladies to see if any of you have made one in the past or if you know of a sight I can visit for ideas. The badge must include sewing/quilting of some description.
I look forward to hearing from you. Thanks again

i've never made one but if this were my assignment i would use crayons to write my name on fabric.

then i would put some angelina fibers across the entire piece.

then i stitch around my name with fancy thread.

then i would add beading and hot fix rhinestones.

finally i would do a zig zag stitch all around the edge to close off the quilt sandwich.

then glue a safety pin on the back and have fun at the party.

We made some for our guild. (Here are pics of the front and back sides.)
They are "micro-mini quilts". This one is about 3 X 4 1/2 inches. They may not all be the same size if someone has a longer or shorter name.

First we embroideried the name then added crazy patchwork with scraps and machine stitches.
They have a very light batting.
Machine applied "binding". No hand work!
Took maybe an hour??? I did mine at a friend's because I don't have a fun machine that does fancy stitching. (It's on my wish list)

You can pin them on or use lanyards that have clips.
We have some ladies that like to do beading so they made some pretty beaded lanyards.

Good Luck on your's. Anxious to see what others have done.

Many thanks for your ideas - I will have to go upstairs & have a root through what I have embelishment wise LOL.

Thanks again - Tisha

Now then 2Doods - this is looking more like it - quick LOL - just up my street.
I could use your idea if you don't mind & pop on some embelishments as Klue suggested.
I'll post the end result once it's done.
Thanks again - Tisha

PS I take it Alice is you name ? - always loved that name for a girl.

Yup! The Alice is from my grandma.
I think they would look great with "jewels" on them.
Have fun! Anxious for pics!

Our guild has their own little emblem and someone (don't know who) does up little cloth squares on a printing machine of some kind. Each new member gets this little square of fabric with their name (first and last) imprinted on it, batting and backing -- their job is to finish it up into a small quilt. We even have name tag drawings each month -- Winner gets $10

Mine went missing or I would post a pic.
I fussy-cut a small rectangular piece out of a landscape fabric, added a neutral base and a border. I wrote my name with fabric pen on the neutral base and quilted the whole thing. To affix it, I sewed on a pin back.

....and then it goes missing- grrrr.
