I made these for my BIL who has Parkinson's, but with exercises and therapy he can now get around using his walker. These were fun to make and he can use the three pockets in the train one or the two larger pockets in the sailboat one. He is a big train lover and a fan of the beautiful state of Maine.

I did very basic quilting, but am tickled with how they turned out.

Did you use a pattern for this or is it yours? It would be nice to make for the veterans hospital. Where can I get it? Thanks

I started with a pattern in a book from House of White Birches, +5 +10 Fat Quarters, and then went totally off on my own. I would be happy to share what I did and what I would do differently when I make some more. Let me know and I'll try to put together a simple tute.

I started out with the idea from a pattern, but went off on my own. I'd be happy to share what I did and what I learned not to do. I will make more of these for our senior center. They are fun and I wish I'd had one when I was on oxygen 24/7.

I made some with a highschool girls years ago to help her get her community volunteer time for school credit.

    I found these links:

    http://sewing.about.com/od/healthbea.../walkerbag.htm

    http://www.bevscountrycottage.com/seniors.html

    http://www.sewingsupport.com/sewing-...lker-bags.html

actually here is the search engine link more than I thought.
    http://www.bing.com/search?q=free+wa...ox&Form=IE8SRC

Just make sure the fabric you use can withstand heavy hot water washings.
    Happy hunting,
    Dawn

What a nice thing you did! I'd like to know how to make one. I think it would be a great thing to give to the senior center for a raffle.

Betty, your "carriers" are great! The only thing I did different was that I put it on with the pockets facing the person. Would love to see your tute!

How thoughtful. And what a conversation piece for the other people where he lives. One friend makes Holday Theme ones for her mother and it cheers up the whole place.
