Default Quilting on satin with Crown Royal bags

I have a quilt to do that has Crown Royal bags in the center blocks and is set together with SATIN. Has anyone ever quilted this combination? Any suggestions will be appreciated.

I can't help with your question, but thought you might like to see this quilt. I took the picture at the NW Quilt Expo in Portland. My question is, how much fun do you have to have to make a quilt like this?

i can't believe this. my son works at a liquor store in kansas city. he said one day a lady asked him to save the bags of crown royal bottles. he asked her why and she said she was making quilts with them. he couldn't believe it. he told me a bout it and i told him no more for her. save them for me. i am your mother. we just talked about this last night so it's crazy that i read it here today.

I've seen a few Crown Royal bag quilts. I remember my kids carrying all kinds of toys & games in those bags over the years!

I have made a couple of CRbag quilts but NEVER with satin..what a nightmare...those two fabrics will require not only different needles, but different settings....good luck!

I have seen those bags made into several crazy quilts with beautiful embroidered stitching on them.

I think the bags are made of crappy flannel now. I know they are because I have a bag of them to make someone a quilt out of and I just dont want to do it. been putting off for 2 years. think I will call him and tell him to come get them. not worth the agravtion.

I just bought a bunch at a yard sale today. I think I got 14 for two bucks. Not sure what I will do with them. But I had seen quilts here made with them so thought I might try something.

I just finished a Crown Royal quilt for my son. My DIL bought bags online (ebay), and he had saved quite a few also. The quilt was for a California King size bed. I made 4 inch squares from the bags with the logo, just like the picture, and also used the bags to make the purple HST. I purchased another purple and gold for the Hunter's Star design. I saved the sides and back of the bag, which I sewed together to make strips, which I then pieced the strips together to make the backing. I had to purchase more purple flannel to complete the backing. He loves it! He made the comment that he never thought that he would want a "purple" quilt! I told him, you're the one who like Crown Royal whiskey! My DIL had ordered a Crown Royal monogramed bag as a gift for him for his birthday, and she had then taken it to a embroidery shop and had them stitch her and my name and the year, and I sewed it on the back of the quilt as the quilt label.

I was asked to make a pair of shorts out of these bags last summer for a co-worker. The guy was quite pleased with them. I had to wonder how much he drank, himself, to get that many bags. LOL.
