    Default Ribbon work anyone?

I had not really ever paid much attention to things like ribbonwork.
BUT, I have a friend who owns "the bead ranch" here in OK and on the months that have a 5th Sat. she hosts a come and PLAY DAY at her studio.

Well, I finally gave in and drove down there. BOY, am I glad that I did. Not only did I get to spend some great time out in the country with my friend, but I got to learn something new!

Sherrill does crazy quilting, soft doll making, heavy embellishing stuff! She sells beads, fibers, etc.
SO, yesterday we learned how to take any old ribbon and turn into flowers, or trims!
I managed to make a 3 part flower, and some pretty trim! I want to use them to make a new special name tag for guild meetings now!

It was interesting to learn about all the different ribbons, and what will/won't work. Which thread is best to use, etc. I see hours of FUN time ahead now!

Anyone here do this type of work?
I am looking for books, instruction sheets, etc...BUT, I am not having any luck really. Silk ribbon embroidery keeps coming up and this is Not done like embroidery!

Pix will be posted as soon as I can!

All I have done is regular embroidery and the silk ribbon embroidery. With the silk ribbon embroidery you do thread the needle differently. It has been a while since I did any though. I loved it when I did it. Have videos and some books on it at home in VA. Teresa

Is this what you mean? It's gorgeous, but a little intimidating to me!

while that is beautiful, it is not the ribbon work I speak of. This is ribbon embroidery.

Jacquie, I used to do a lot of silk ribbon embroidery. Judith Montano Baker has several excellent books. Recently, I added silk ribbon embroidery to a quilted project and it was great.

Oh, yeah, the woman who does 3-D flowers, Joan Shay, is also a good resource.

Sounds like fun! I try to stay away from new projects, I tend to get a little OCD LOL!

Have you seen the book The Artful Ribbon by Candace Kling or Into the Garden by Cindy Zlotnik Oravecz. I love all of Judith Montano Baker's books. Lots of pictures and how to's. I was lucky enough to get to take one of her classes. You should see what she does with Ombre Ribbon.
