does anyone use a Brother PE 770 embroidery machine? I plan to purchase one, am just getting started in the embroidery area and want something in the lower price scale to get started with and to see if it is something I want to continue. If you own one - do you recommend it, is it user friendly, do you enjoy working with it? I see quilts posted on here with embroidery and I want to try it.

I have the brother 150 with a 4x4 frame and the brother PC8200 combo with the 4x4 and 5x7 frame. I love them both but, I wish I had a larger frame. If you can go, get the largest frame in the price frame you can afford. I have had my machines for over 20 years and have yet to do a design in 2 hoopings and get it right. So I have to stick with the small designs.

I have the same machine. it's faily user friendly. I had a hard time with the computer and getting designs on the disc and such. I come from professional embroidery. I worked on a 15 needle machine for a casket company. I would go up a model if you can afford it. if not, go for the 770 and see how you l ike it. it's addictive. i'm doing lace right now, and for that you need water souluable stabilizer. have fun and let us know what you do.

Brother machines are user friendly. I have 5 at the moment. Get the biggest frame you can afford. I don't know of anyone who has said they wished they had gotten a smaller frame.

I just bought one a month or so ago, and haven't used it much yet. So far I've only made some appliqued hearts blocks, but it was very easy and fun---addictive. The machine I had before was the Brother PE110, a very basic machine, but it served my meager purposes.

The PE770 and the Designio820 (same machine-different color) are great beginner machines. They're workhorse machines and pretty easy to use. If you decide you want to upgrade or that machine embroidery isn't for you, you can always sell it. It's a popular machine and someone is always looking for one.

That being said, I have 2 Brother and 3 Janome embroidery machines and they're every bit the workhorse Brother machines are and I find them more user friendly than the Brothers.

My friend has the PE770 and really likes it. It is user friendly. She has the Embrid embroidery software. Since she first learned machine embroidery on my Viking Topaz she had access to a larger hoop than her machine has, so she would like to have a larger hoop but gets by without it.
If possible, buy your machine from a dealer that has a good trade in policy. Both my Janome dealer and Viking dealer will allow you to up grade within the year for the original amount paid. Then if you really like it, and want to up grade it will be easier to do.

Thank you Eva, good info. I know the PE 770 is one of the cheaper models out there-just want to start with something simple to embroider towels, Christmas gifts. It has the 5X7 frame so it will work for now.

Thank you to all who have responded with good info. I will let you know how things go with my new adventure. I have watched so many you tube videos on embroidery my eyes are sore!! I am excited to get started!
