I am making a strip quilt and alternating strips are animals appliqued from wool felt on to cotton squares. I need ideas as to how to quilt around the animals. There is a brown rooster and a pink pig to go with the sheep. I am quilting the pieced blocks on the sewing machine following the lines of the piecing.

I like the looks of a meandering/stipple design around animals like this...it can make the appliques really stand out :D:D:D

I agree Amma. Echo quilting wouldn't work but a fine stipple would make them stand out.

I agree too. A small stipple pattern will really make your appliques stand out. BTW...good job, it looks great.

Stipple would be pretty, or you could quilt it too look like a background scene with ground, maybe a fence, some trees.
