Quilting room advice

Two years ago, we added a 18 x 18 room onto our house for my sewing room. I have a 10' extended Hinterberg frame, various tables, large ironing board, bookcase, printer bookcase and a few other etc's. Also a 8' closet with bi-fold doors. Sometimes wish we had made it 20 x 20, but I'd probably still run out of room

One room of my sewing space is 30'x 15' and I think I'd have room for a big LA but no much more. I don't like a lot of stuff in a small space. I like open clear spaces in rooms. But that's just what I would need to be comfortable. I've seen LAs in regular size rooms but that is too cramped for me.

I agree with the gal who said get the measurement of the frame and add at least 6 feet to both the length and width. 8 feet would be even better. You need to get to all 4 sides of the frame. Make sure you get the 'footprint' measurement of the frame, not just the quilting area.
I have a 10' frame with an 18" machine in a 8 X 16 foot space and it just fits.

I have a 12' frame and my room is 9'x17.5' It helps that my sewing room is next to this room, so I don't need anything else in there. But I do have shelves high on the wall (9 foot ceilings) and a bank of upper cabinets that I placed on the floor. I plan to put a 14" wide counter top on this. Thread is on peg board hooks on the wall and I bought 2 letter sorters to put my stash in... I did fit a Singer 66-16 in the corner but it will come out as soon as I reorganize my sewing room.

It's not finished yet, trim needs to go up around the doors and windows, etc. But at least I'm stitching!

each long-arm has it's own 'foot-print' and recommended space requirements- then you need to figure sewing table, cutting table, ironing board, shelves, fabric storage, books, possibly computer, you need to sit down with some graph paper (or a computer program) and start plugging in furnishings/needs- after making a list of all those necessities & how much space each takes- and remember you need to walk around- be able to use them- get to them...the long arm will require anywhere from 12' x 5' up to about 17'x6'...just to comfortably use it- of course depending on which one you buy- then your sewing table- you don't want it right up next to the long arm-

I have a 24X24 carport that I've been seriously toying with the idea of closing in...but even then, I don't think that would be enough room for my longarm (Gammill with a 12-foot table) and all my other machines and fabric. So...here I sit, sewing stuff and machines in three rooms and my LA in my den, still cogitating......what to do? what to do!!
