I want to upgrade my machine and test drove a Janome 6600P which was a lot of fun! Dealer is asking $2100 which I now know after looking at a QB posts that this is pretty high. How do you 'haggle' with a dealer? What would be a reasonable price to get down to? Can anyone suggest some good haggling lines? Man, I want a new machine bad but don't want to seem to eager!

Take numbers with you..show you have done your home work. Take in comparison prices for diff brands with the same options on them. Usually they will do a lot more if they think you will go with a diff brand. You are right..not to eager. On the other hand I have a 6600 and love it!!

$2100 for a Janome 6600 P? You must be kidding.
No way, way too much money.

I paid $1200 for mine, got all the attachments and the extension bed.

If the dealer has the machine this high, he may not want to haggle. Ask him what his lowest price is. If he does not come down to the $1200 - 1800 range, go elsewhere.

I paid $1600 a little over a year ago and its dropped considerably since then. I would think $1200 a reasonable price.

I found the same thing with a Kirby vacumn salesman, so I went on line and researched the machine, I found out he wanted three times the amount you could purchase. So a sewing machine should be the same.

I would go in armed with my comparison shopping and then tell him you will pay no more than the cheapest price you have found and if he won't go for it go buy it where you found it cheapest.

I think the biggest thing with haggling is being able to walk away if you aren't gettting a fair price. But I say this as I live in a big city and ahve the luxury of being able to go somewhere else.

At $2100 I would order it off line before I would pay that price. I paid 1400 with all the attachments and side table in Feb.

Good Luck.
