Tried some redwork! What do you suggest I add to make this the focus of a small hanging?

Color it with crayolas. It would give it some highlights and depth. I love your pattern.

Do you mean in redwork or pieced? If red work, I think some words from Hark the Herald Angel Sings would be nice. The Christmas story from the Bible would be nice too. If pieced, I also think Stars would be nice or Flying Geese or 3 D pinwheels.
