Only because I was on a yard sale jaunt. Saw only 18" doll dresses and apron kits. Was getting fruit when mgr walked by and asked me if I was finding everything ok.... Wrong question to ask a person just looking for fabric. I told him NO! I did not find any fabric in his store not even a FQ. I told him about "us" and how a lot of us were unhappy about having to shop elsewhere. He was very receptive to our concerns. Seems they had spent MILLIONS of dollars on remodeling stores and that Upper Mgmt has now changed and they are "rethinking" some of the changes made in recent years. He is in the process of ordering FQ and packaged cuts of 2 & 5 yards. It seems that the return of bolts to this store is depending upon how well the packaged products sell. Guess I will have to "force" myself to find something I need in the packaged cuts.

Glad you spoke up. If the consumer stays quit, the store (management) will not know or understand. Hope they will have something in your style when the precuts come in.

I went to my local Walmart today and they had a novelty fabric I was looking for to make 6' table cloths for a b-day party next weekend. The quality was very good and the price was right, i.e. less than $5 per yard. They had enough for me to make the 3 table cloths I needed, so I left one happy camper. Our Walmart is very good, always helpful, with a nice selection of fabric, and they keep getting new stock. I would be devastated if they quit selling fabric at my local WM, as the next closest fabric store is 30 miles away.

Well, after being "spoiled" by my great Walmart, with its full fabric center, I finally went into one of THOSE Walmarts the other day!

It was horrible!

They had several aisles of CELEBRATIONS, and one little tiny afterthought that sold 3 types of batting, some thread, and stickpins. They had those rag doll and apron kits, too, in a basket on the floor. That was it.

I know I've seen lots of people post here about their WM's not having fabric, but I guess I didn't realize how bad it was.

It makes me thankful for mine, with it's AE Nathans, tons of batttings, different types of fabrics, a full line of June Taylor notions.

I shop Walmart every week. If another store has lower prices on the items I want to buy, I'll shop there. It's funny I go to the Walmart in the next town and see several people from my town there, the same ones who say I won't shop at Walmart. I go right up to them and say I thought it was you. What are you doing in Walmart? I thought you never shopped in Walmart? I don't wait for an answer I say I have to rush, see you next time I'm in here.

I'm so happy to hear that you spoke up, for we all need our walmart fabric and notions, wish ours would bring them back.

I have started my kids sewing and I love that there are still a few Walmarts around that sell fabric because I cannot afford to let my kids cut into my expensive quilting fabric, but buying bargain fabric for them to learn on is great. They LOVE going to JoAnns and Walmart with me if I tell them I will let them pick out a yard or two of fabric. When we go to a Walmart that doesn't have fabric, they are disappointed. They are actually asking to go to the fabric department BEFORE they go to the toys. It is great! (They are 5 and 8).

We still have a Wal Mart about 15 min.s from me that has fabric. Don't know if they will bring it back to this great big area. I probably won't be buying any as I have more fabrics than I can possibly make into quilts. I've had lots of fun buying it, now its time to get busy and use it up.
