wondering if anyone has ever made a rag quilt (or raggy project) with batiks? wondering if the edges will fray like is needed to get the effect?

wanting to make another raggy bargello jacket, but the fabric my mom has picked out is batiks, and for some reason, i'm concerned that they won't fray like other cottons (they just feel different).

please share your experience?

I've never done a rag quilt with batiks, Patty, but I've worked with them frequently. I don't think they would fray well at all because of the high thread count. Both denim and flannel, the best of the "frayers", are quite loosely woven. Batik is very densely woven. Just my opinion. Can you try to fray a small piece?

I pre-wash all fabrics and batiks are not given to unraveling easily on their own.
