I agree with the F&S easy quilts or a McCalls/Better Homes and Gardens one. You may still find patterns that are slightly more difficult but if you hang on to them, you may be interested in the future.

When I started quilting, I picked up McCall's Quick Quilts and after years of doing this I still have a subscription. Most of them are easy, though they do put in some that are perhaps intermediate. But that magazine (and the Quilter's Cache site) basically taught me to quilt.

My first quilting mag. subscription was "Quick Quilts" I found patterns very easy to understand . I still have several copies from years ago and still use them for ideas.
Eleanor Burns is another good easy explained,with pics, books.

Hi Bev ~I took out a 3 year subscription to Fons and Porter's Love of Quilting magazine, simply because my sister recommended it and I got a good $ deal by signing on for the 3 years. HOWEVER, I've been disappointed by the amount of "easy/beginner" quilt patterns they offer. I can see why my sister likes it, since she has been quilting for over 20 years and there are some wonderful higher skill level patterns in the magazine. I'm a fairly novice quilter and quilting is my "therapy", as it were, ...... a creative outlet that destresses me. I don't like it when things turn into frustration. So, have I made any of the lovely quilts in the "Love of Quilting" magazine? Nope, not really. Now, as someone else suggested, Fons & Prter do have an "Easy Quilts" publication that I have purchesed from time to time and I find those patterns very do-able. Nita

My JoAnn's carries this magazine. I think it might only be a 4X/year publication, though I'm not sure about that. If not, try searching Fons & Porter website. Can I also suggest the book "Beginner's Luck" by Lynette Jensen? Most of her Thimbleberries quilts are way beyond my skill level, but this book is the exception. I know you asked about a magazine subscription, but as far as books go this has been my absolute favorite "go to" book for easy patterns. You can probably find it on Amazon.com.
