Default Natural color batting behind solid white fabric

Do you find that natural colored batting used behind solid white causes the white fabric to look yellow? I'm about to quilt a quilt of mine that has a great deal of solid white in it, but I don't have white batting on hand. Am I worrying for nothing?

No you are not worried for nothing.. Do a test of some of the white fabric with a natural color behind it. I have found that with my quilts that have a white as dominant color in the quilt .. I use a white batting as the natural color of a batting does "shade" the white a bit .. it will depend on how tight its woven and how thick the fabric.

Lori is right - test the batting with your fabric. It will probably look different with the unbleached batting, but you may like the look.

The natural batting will dull the white fabric in your top. If this doesn't bother you, use the natural. If you want a bright white, then use a white batting. Place the natural batting behind a portion of your top and place a bright white fabric (folded so it's not transparent) behind another portion -- see which look you like. If you prefer the bright white, then you'll have to purchase white batting.

I would use white. I made a white pillow and used regular warm and natural batting and I wasn't thrilled with the result. I didn't want to redo it all so I left it but next time I use white, I'll buy some white batting.
