Reborn Member with really good question
Ladies & Gentlemen?? I am an oldie that couldn't remember her login info.. I am not on a lot of boards. But I am desperate for help. I hope it is alright to ask. If not, please just delete me. I am wanting to make a photo quilt. Kind of different/abstract. I want to somehow take an 8/10 photo but want to make it into 2/12 in strips. Like a jelly roll. I am wanting to make it an off kilter photo quilt. So I have no idea how to print out the photo where, the photo strip is 2 in with extra 1/2 for the seam allowance? Any ideas?

I usually call my friend in Arizona to help me with this sort of thing. Do you have reasonably sophisticated photo editing program? I would think it would be easy to slice the image into 2" pieces and then space them.
The other thing is if you print multiple images you can get a couple out of each one, so you might get rows 1, 3, 5 all in one go, then cut 2 and 4 out of the other one.

Thank you. I feel like an idiot for not thinking that. Maybe I can blame it on the cold meds? No... just me.

I've been reading about this artist's transfer paper. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/16...5WF3E1QU&psc=1 With this, you could go ahead and sew your strips together and then transfer the photo. There are youtube videos of how to use this product.

You can upload any file to be printed on any type fabric. They have an editing app to use. I made a photo quilt by uploading photos and ordering a "swatch" for each one ($5 ea.) Also, custom fabric by the yard.

I second the Spoonflower suggestion. The printing is better quality then the home printer set up. It is so much fun to have the fabric design I drew in the colors I want. I have one shelf unit just for my Spoonflower fabric. I have started using Spoonflower for one of a kind backings for my quilts.
