A stunning quilt, you are one lucky lady to be able to enjoy it.

I concur with the others. It's a feathered star variation.

Hi everyone, I went back and looked through my older books again and did find a feathered star quilt/no pattern. I guess it would be a feathered star "variation" as the points seem much more delicate than the photo I found. It is not signed and dated unfortunately but I do know the history as it was told to me so that info will be kept with the quilt for future generations.
...I was lucky to receive a number of fine quilts from my MIL - she had no interest in sewing/quilting and passed them on to us to use on our beds when we were first married, she was happy to get rid of them and I think they may have gone in the garbage if I hadn't taken them.

I know this one as 'feathered star'.

It is a feathered star and there is a tutorial on how to construct one that has the same configuration as the one pictured here: (It is multi colored)
http://sewhappy10000.blogspot.com/20...-tutorial.html
I thought it would be easier to construct if there were directions for paper piecing. I did find a reference for paper piecing instructions for A Quilter’s Snowflake,Quilters Newsletter Magazine, December 2005 issue, designed and made by
Richard Larson. This one has more points on the stars than the one pictured but if you can find the issue with instructions the paper piecing pattern is on the web at http://www.quiltersnewsletter.com/we...feature190.pdf.
I was wondering if there might be one in EQ somewhere and will have to take a look at my program to see.
I love the red and white quilt pictured! Ann in TN

Feathered Star and the sashing is a variation of the feather not Flying Geese (no points).
