I have the top to a denim quilt I made many years ago. The flannel backing long since fell apart. I took it off and have new flannel to put onto the back but the seams are falling apart in many places. I have patched it so many times and still can't seem to get in front of the frey. I have thought and thought about how to rescue this top. Then in looking at the pics here I see someone who has made a rag quilt from denim. It hit me then. Fold the seams to the front and reseam 1/2 to 3/4 inch in and make a rag quilt out of it. It will be a good bit smaller but it will not frey apart. I think I need to try this.

I made a denim quilt with old blue jeans ...... it WAS for my oldest grandson's bed ....until my hubby claimed it. I cut 12 inch squares, seams and pockets included. I made seams wrong side to wrong side, washed and dried it so it would ravel. VIOLA...a raggedy quilt. I backed it with fleece.

I don't think its dumb, its a DUH or AHH HAAA moment!! Let me know how you like the rag quilt. I have a large tub of my sons jeans that I've saved since he was a little tike and I want to do something with them for him.

We all absolutely loved this quilt and it fell apart. I took my size 2 and such jeans and had to split the leg seams to get a 7 inch block. Then some have snuff rings from my then BF (now husband of 25 years) my Jordache pockets and all of my designer jeans along with his Levis.

LOL Spell check does not recognize Jordache. That makes me older then dirt I think.
