Yikes! Neither of my FWs cost that, and they both sew lovely. This product doesn't make much sense right now, when multistitch computerized machines of decent quality AND original FWs in good condition are both available at the same or lower price. Only the most uninformed buyer would go for this.

Nothing beats an original, I agree!
Since I am obsessed with antiques of all kinds, I certainly know the value of buying originals... and my first choice would always be to get the original. I see this in the antiques business all the time... whenever something becomes so hot that the price skyrockets, someone out there would reproduce it hoping to cash in on the latest obsession. A lot of people who didn't know any better bought the new ones thinking they were getting a pristine antique because less reputable dealers would sell repros as antiques.... Only thing I can say about this replica is they're not trying to scam anyone into thinking they're buying an antique Singer Featherweight.

I've tried out other items that were manufactored by this company and they were NOT good. Very cheap construction, noise, probably wouldn't last a year...I'll stay with the real thing.

Made in China. I have to wonder about that. Too much bad stuff coming out of China - lead paint on baby toys, poison milk, etc. Plus my actual featherweight was a lot cheaper.

I am just really curious here....the first time I ever heard of a featherweight sewing maching was on this board...I realize you all love them and value them highly so can someone tell me why? What do you use them for or are they just a valuable antique to own? Just wondering...

So how can we tell an original FW from a replica once these are floating around? i.e. craigslist, ebay, shows, etc
