I'm packing stuff up today to head for a retreat tomorrow. I think I have just about all my quilt stuff gathered up. I have my machine, rolling chair, small folding table, ott light, extension cords, super duper steam iron, best press, plenty of scissors and a couple of rotary cutters and the mat, extra machine needles, and at least 4 projects to work on. Oh, maybe I should throw in some clothes?

Rulers!! I better go grab some rulers and stick in the pile.

I see several of you have been or are going on retreats, what sort of retreats are they.?. I thought they may be religious based but if you are taking machines etc I guess they cannot be.

Quilt retreats! You take your machine and some munchies to share and go sew with your best quilt buddies for several days.

At our retreat we go to a church camp because they have dorms, a big dining room and they'll feed us two times a day all for the low price of a hundred bucks each for 4 days. We just have them feed us brunch and supper and have a whole table loaded with all sorts of munchies for during the day.

I will be going on a retreat next month. I always take 2 sewing machines!! If one breaks I don't want to just watch everyone else having all the fun!!! We have a cabin in the woods at a Church camp. It's beautiful there. Love my retreats and go twice a year in April and October.

Church camps make the best retreat spots. They're generally low in price and they're always happy to have paying customers during the off season.

Thank you, that sounds great. Over here a retreat would be to a religious place though you don't have to be religious to go to one.. more like finding peace I guess. I find it interesting the different meanings we have either side of the pond, for some words.

No predictions, but I would take a good seam ripper. Maybe it's like an umbrella. If you take it you won't need it. Have a great time.

I use my thread snippers when I have to rip. They have very small, very sharp points. When I rip I just cut a stitch every 4 to 6 stitches on one side and then pull the thread on the other side.
