Reversible Quilt Panel

I have the privilege of making my sister's grandson a baby quilt from a panel which she has provided. I suggested making it reversible, without actually thinking it through. I have plenty of design ideas but the seam positions are a nightmare. I have four gingham fabrics to work with. Now, how do I HAND quilt the front whilst coping with the seams at the back? Any helpful suggestions please as I am sure there are some experts out there who have been challenged by this? Here is the panel.

Sorry, I didn't explain very well. There is no back, I have to create it! It is the design that I am having trouble with to fit in with the front without having to negotiate double seams, but making it interesting. She doesn't want a replica of the front.

I*'d use larger pieces of gingham, with the center the size of the panel, and hand quilt to outline the figures in the panel. Maybe you could strip the other ginghams and place them on a diagonal in the corners. Not to good at describing what I mean, but in my mind I can see it.

Why not do the background pieces of the front but with different colors. You could put a pieced block in the windows and leave off the cross bars. Just omit the applique. Then when you quilted it, it would line up.
