I need help/advice/something......... today I found a SINGER 6215 at the Goodwill store, for $5.00.........the problem is, there is no electric cord, and no foot control........so you cant try it out as there is not way to plug it in, to the wall socket...I found one on line, for $33.00............now, that is the question..should I spend more $$ or should I take it back to the store tomorrow? just thought I would see what all of you sister-quilters think about this.........thanks in advance for your advice......js

If it were me, for $5 I would keep it, borrow a cord from another Singer (some are interchangeable) and if it works, buy a new cord. I found a guy years ago (unfortunately I don't know how to contact him now) that sold foot controls for $10 each.

Did you ask 'a knowledgeable' person at the store if they had the missing parts?
Research the missing parts, get pictures. Bring something in to donate and then ask for the manager. Take the pictures in with your name and number and give it to the manager. He may say he can't do it but it would be worth a try for me...be real nice! Talk to them in the back room where donations are dropped off...cause that's where you want your pictures and info to be...where the workers can see it coming in.
I'd also be checking every day if it were close enough to my house.
Maybe that special someone will donate the missing parts IF they came across it. Perhaps they're clearing out a house or basement.
Good luck.

I found another one, almost just like it, and things fit both of them....found out the 15.00 one is working and the 5.00 was not.....SO...I took the light bulb from the 5.00 one (was working) and the foot, and I then put the things from the 15.00 that were not working, on the 5.00 one....and I gave the 5.00 one back to the store, telling them it was NOT working..motor runs, but nothing moves along...donation to them, and ask that they put that note on the machine, so if someone else buys it, they will no it isnt sewing. So, for a total of 20.00, I ended up with a working one, and made a contribution to the store..
