Default rip stop nylon as foundation

Has anyone ever used rip stop nylon as afoundation for piecing a banner? This would be for one to hang outside an event.

never tried it. Would the rip stop be the backing or would you be piecing onto the nylon fabric?

That would be fine to do. People do it all the time.

It would be a great choice. Remember to cut some 'wind flaps' into your banner once you get it complete. Just a couple or 3 of half-circles cut into the backing/nylon. Get a heavier weight nylon if you can. Rip stop can be a bit slippery.

I made one with large appliquéd old English style letters. Since the background was bright red and the letters were white I had to do double thickness on the letters, which was sort of a pain trying to keep them from slipping apart until I got them stitched down securely. It has held up well in the weather.
