I didn't know they still made them without it. I wish they gave you more time, I think mine shuts off at 5 minutes! I hate that, everytime I get ready to use it, it's off again. It's a shark professional and heats up quick but you still have to tilt it to turn it back on and press the button to choose the setting you want. It's a pain.

i know the ones shut off are a pain,i had a bad thing happen with an iron which did not turn off-- so i use them now ,much safer.

I also have a Black and Decker that I like real well. It stays on and the water won't all evaporate on you (even if left on over night - oops).

this is a very funny video on YouTube about Ironing Boards. Thought it would fit in here with the iron discussion.

I just had to replace my Black and Decker due to power surges in my house. Less than a year old, and it got killed! I like the automatic shut off feature, cause if I get sidetracked, I don't have to worry about burning down my stash!

If you don't want auto-shut off, you should check garage and estate sales.

I have the Rowenda travel iron. I love the size for quilting. The only thing I dont like is since it is small you have to keep putting water in it. Dry it just isnt hot enough.

    Estelle,

I have a rowenta travel iron too...and love it. The only downside is that is leaks when you first add water to it. Does yours do that too?.....Mary
