Hate that these irons start out working great and then go downhill within a year. My 2nd one started leaking just like the first one and the steamer doesn't work.
Yes, I went out again a bought another only because I couldn't find another one equal to the size. Went to Walmart and Kohls and none were found. They only had the regular size irons. I finally gave us and went to Joanns. This will be my last one!!!
Does anyone have a travel size steam iron that they use and love and lasts? Which brand is it?
Thanks in advance and apologies for ranting :-)

I use a travel one all the time (I can't remember the make, sorry). The point is, I never put any water in it, I always use a spray bottle. The one I have now is about 14 years old. They last a lot longer if you don't use the steam function (they have ridiculously small tanks anyway)

You can find various ones if oyu google it. I know quite a few people that have the Rowenta Travel Iron anbd have not had any toruble with it. Lucky for them, as mos tpeople do not know that although the Rowenta is a German product, it is mad ein guess where (CHINA). Need I say more. YOu can also goodle the Rowenta company and email someone in their customer relations department and let them know that if you are not reimbursed or given a new iron you have all intentions of going onto your quilting site and letting everyone in the country and outside the USA know about their product and are warninbg all quilters not to purchase a Rowenta product. That will usually do it. All Brands is a good place to start as they do have lightweight travel irons and are very reasonable.

My Rowenta travel iron got so hot that it melted the "on" switch/slide into the on position. Now I have to plug/unplug for power. :(

Mine is the Rowenta travel iron and it is still kicking after more than a year. I found mine at Bed, Bath & Beyond and used a 20% off coupon (I waited until I had a coupon to get one). I love it. I use it mostly for paper piecing and it is so handy sitting right by my right side. Sorry yours have not worked out. :-D

Did you write to Rowenta? Sometimes customer services will make good on a faulty item. Your iron sounds very faulty. 'Course you could also happen to mention that you are part of this board and how many, many quilters want to know!

PS: Tweety, your rants are understandable. My DH always insists on irons big & small be unplug at night and when leaving our home.

I'm on my last Rowenta. This one is now a couple of years old and still working o.k. The prior 2 had leaks. I bought mine at Bed and Bath with a coupon.
