Scrappy quilts are fun. I sometimes have a hard time just throwing all those colors together and try to do too much planning. They always come out beautiful.

I love scrappy...I am attempting one at the moment. Totally random, just a big bag of scraps and sew whatever gets pulled out (bit of a lucky dip). Doing a few heart blocks and wonky houses to throw in....lots of fun but hard to stick to the random concept.

I love scrappy quilts too. I find myself making some rules or parameters for how I organize the scraps, but I do love a good mix of color and pattern.

Scrappy quilts are my absolute favourite. They look like the quilts Grandma made and they appeal to my frugal nature. Anytime that I can make a wonderful quilt out of a bag of scraps is a bonus. I get to work with fabric that I didn't choose, colours that I would never have put together and best of all these bags are usually a "here you are" from other quilters who are just cleaning up some extra stuff. What a wonderful gift to get my creative juices flowing.

I love scrappy quilts too, we did our first scrappy LC for a quilt shop owner who gave us her scraps and said "put them all together" - so we did and it came out great. That was years ago.
We also don't worry about all pieces being precisely the same size - ours have a more old-fashioned look.

I have a huge tote of fabric from shirts, dresses that I got from yard sales, thrift store. I have been buying some lights to go with them. I have alot of blues. May pull them out and make a scrappy blue quilt with them? A lady at LQS said she made one with blu, purples and some teals? that sounds good to me, livable colors and I have most of the colors in my tote already. I thought about just making the scrappy blocks on the side, that way when I get tired of looking at the quilt blocks I am making now, I could do something different for a change then just let them pile up into a workable project.

The scrappy quilt will always be first in my quilters heart. I don't know why, but I love it. I am in the beginning of making a scrappy Cathedral Window quilt. It will take some time. but that is okay with me.

I am working on my second quilt. It is a scrappy one. Because I am new to quilting and decided to make a queen size (big mmistake on my part)it is taking forever. I can't wait to post it, but I will stick to lap quilts next time.
