Default Serger serger

Hi,
I have been trying to find out to no avail what my Pfaff 4752 is worth. Haven't used it in years and then prior to that I only used it for a couple months. It sits in a box...have no idea what it is worth. Anyone? Thank you!!
Molly

Probably will get the most for it as a trade in on a new one with all the features we all love so much. Next, would suggest a donation to a non-profit organization and a tax deduction. Third, sell for cash. Consider comparison shopping on Ebay.

I'd try to see if there is a LQS in your area and even if you don't want to buy a new one ask what you can get for a trade in and figure that you can sell it for that or maybe a little less. I wouldn't try to sell it on here; first of all you have to reach a certain status as a member a member before you can sell anything and then you can only sell it for %60 of the current retail value; not what you think it's worth. I only know this because I was going to sell a couple of things on here but it wasn't worth taking that much of a loss on. I've been keeping an eye on the sergers at my LQS because they post thier prices on the site but I want one that is easy to feed; like the one that feeds itself. Good luck with the sale. Sergers are great to have.

another thought how about your local Quilt Guild...perhaps even email them.
Maybe give local sewing store a call for value....
I have a love hate relationship with my serger...when I need it, its wonderful
but the rest of the time it sits and stares at me.......'(

I did a search on eBay. Apparently you have to use the word "overlock" in the search, as "serger" doesn't come up with much. Couldn't find your particular model, but did find the following Pfaff's in the completed section:
http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=...&LH_Complete=1

Only those with a price in green actually sold. Might at least give you a ballpark, depending on the features your serger has. Prices at garage sales tend to be much less than on eBay. Can you demonstrate at the garage sale that the serger actually works?

Keep in mind that most times sewing items/machines in garage sales do not realize their real values. Unless your sale has been advertised as a sewers/quilters sale, chances are only a small percentage of those who attend may have any interest.

Plus, not from a dealer with any back up or warranty, will lower what others would pay. You might get a better price if you deal with a dealer.
