I'm so sorry about your finger. Don't get infected in this hot weather! Hope you get good pain medication.

My husband says I should be quilting with fingers curled under if the foot doesn't have toes sticking up. He is a carpenter and has- thanks be- all his digits. I don't know how I can do that, though.

Wishing you have a speedy recovery!

Yes, be careful for infection. My friend sewed hers on her longarm and it got infected. Ended up having to have surgery. I am sure the dr will tell you what you should be doing for it.

Yep! About 5 years ago ONLY my finger was stuck under the foot feed. Yes tetnus shot. Needle broke in thre pieces. 911 call for help...stuck. 4 really cute paramedics to the rescue. Pain. No. Needle missed the bone so just needed Tylnol for a couple day. Washed booboo w/anticeptic soap, sealed fingernail w/super glue.

Should we start a new group? Sisterhood Brotherhood of the Sewn Finger. No dues required. Just need to share the stories.

Just a thought.

Yes I have and you'd think once would be enough wouldn't you. First time I think the bruising from the punch was almost as bad as the puncture. It did throb for about 2 days but I had no lasting effects from it. The second injury was just the skin on the outside of my peter pointer finger and it was healed up in a week.

I've only done this once - friend was looking over my shoulder and talking, I turned to look at her and got distracted. That was many years ago, and haven't done it since. It's an extremely painful mistake you only make once!

Did it to my little finger about a month ago. I didn't break the needle, didn't have a husband here and had to hit the needle lift button. It hurts, good luck with the healing

It really hurts, I reacted without thinking and yanked my finger out while the needle was down. holes top and bottom, torn open the nail. wish I would have pressed the needle up button, even dumber to yank while the needle was down.
did you get an infection?

I did it, trying to learn stipple quilting & needle went thru thumb nail.  No infection & needle didn't break. DH heard me yell & he took ahold of the wheel & raised it. Came out slick as a whistle. Poured disinfect on it, then anti biotic salve & wrapped it. next day, removed wrapping & in 2-3 days it was well on the way to healing.

Hope yours feels better soon.

Emergecny room cost big bucks with my insurance, tomorrow I am going to my doc for a tetanus shot and pain pills. it is a thumping. I did not bleed on the strip though, typing is hard. I went back and finished the strips, cannot iron. Did anyone ever do this? any infection? how long to heal??

Your Doctor will probably ask you when you had a tetnus shot last.
