I've got a Brother project runway. Great lightweight machine that I carry around in a large tote bag I made for it. I,ve also found that the Brother's feet and bobbins fit my Babylock--bonus!

Hi, Im thinking of when Im feeling better joining a guild or class but cant carry my regular sized sewing machine anymore. I'll need something really lightweight. Someone mentioned a Janome Mini. Any other recommendations? what does everyone bring to classes or meetings? Thanks!!

bee3,
Most guilds don't sew at their meetings, some do offer classes. I bring a Singer featherweight for most classes. Pfaff has a new full featured machine that only weighs about 12-14 pounds, it has the IDT(built-in walking foot). Janome Jem is another good light weight machine.

The Brother cs6000i & sq9050 are also great machines, super for travel & class, even lighter than the 950D but no embroidery. I keep my cs600i in a tote with extra needles & thread & when I have a class or a chance to sew with friends I grab the tote & run, it often goes with me on vacation too.

I have a Brother Inonovis 40, Project Runway model that is lightweight but sews a really smooth seam. It has a drop in bobbin and needle threader. I enjoy this machine at home as well as for taking to classes.
