I have a 7 month old Janome 3160QDC that is now in for its 5th repair of the bobbin mechanism. After repair #4 Janome said that it was a flaw in some machines of this model and authorized full replacement of the parts. Today it happened AGAIN. Does anyone else have this model? Are you having problems? Thanks for any advice you can share.

If I were having that much trouble, I would want an entire new machine. There are lemons in every brand and it sounds like you have one. IMHO, once you have a problem with a machine so early in your ownership, and with the amount of time in 6 months, you have a lemon. I would ask/demand a new one. I would also contact Janome corporate as well, share with them your list of troubles/repairs and I'm sure they would also want you to have a new machine, too. New machine, new beginnings. All my machines are Janome's and I have 4, including an embroidery machine. I love them and feel that their workmanship is superior to none.

Yes, I do have this model - but have never had a problem with it. I am so sorry this is happening to you.

I have had problems when I change the bobbin thread, etc. For me....it is an issue of making VERY sure the bobbin is in exactly right. I would have to take some pictures to show you what I mean and will try to do that this evening.

I agree.... every one can get a lemon... but it's you bought new and it's a problem... just tell them to pop out a new box and send this one back.... i'm sure they have a return policy with janome themselves... janome is known of it's "good track record"... i'm sure they will want to keep it...

Thank you all for addressing the problem with my Janome. I bought it a a local quilt shop from really nice women who are working with Janome to "make it right" for me. Since it is the 5th time, however, I will need to contact Janome myself if they are unable to negotiate for a new machine. Up to now I have not wanted to get impatient with them -- hope it doesn't come to that!
