sewing without pins

I don't pin while sewing pieces together. But if I have points to line up I will sew about an inch across the point to make sure it is lined up then sew it half one way then flip it over and sew the other half. I found that this way was easier when lining points up.

I don't know about using Elmer's Glue (sounds messy to use), but glue sticks work very well and the glue washes out. I used glue sticks when making a series of 8" hummingbirds, each with 15 to 25 pieces. It made the whole thing possible. Sierra.

I can't seem to get my seams to match well without a lot of pinning. In fact, even when I pin I get the odd bad matchup. I can't seem to make myself stitch over glue though. Is it really ok to do that?
