Default Sheep Pattern

My hubby works with a man who will be retiring soon. This man is a preacher and loves sheep. I want to make a wall hanging for him but I am having a hard time finding a pattern. Any of you lovely folks have any suggestions - I am at the point that I will probably just make one but I would rather not have to deal with that as I always end up not buying enough fabric when I do that. Thanks in advance. -Jen

Use white fleece for sheep and sew onto fabric in shape of body so that the stitches make the shape, then cut close to stitches. Embellish. Put them in a field or make a picket fence around them?

I used an old coloring book with a pattern of a sheep - did mine in white fleece on another color background, did sashing in between.

Here is one I made a few years ago. I do still have the magazine that the pattern came from, if you're interested.

If you google "sheep quilt" and look at the images you will see lots of appropriate quilts. Here is one I like - http://www.pelennapatchworks.co.uk/w...x-15-445-p.asp

Here's my Sheep quilt ...
http://www.quiltingboard.com/picture...t-t172511.html

While mine is with a Christmas theme, some of my friends did the same pattern, just using sheep, no shepherd.
Post #7 has the pattern details.

It's an easy pattern to make and works up very quickly.

If you know anyone with an accuquilt they have a sheep die. It's really cute. I made it for my grandson.
