I was going to try to resist this new gadget, but today I got an e-mail from Sewforless.com saying their $350 item is on sale for $199. Then I saw matts on sale, small, med or large. If you were to jump in and get one of these Go Cutters, what all do you need? Eventually will the cutter parts need to be replaced? How large is this thing, does it take up as much space as my sewing machine? Is it heavy. Any input would be appreciated.

I have the Go. It is very compact for storage; however, to use it you need to open it up so it can spread out. Opened up and spread out it is about 30"; however, you need extra space for positioning the die and fabric for rolling through. I put it on the edge of my cutting table so there is plenty of room for my hand to crank the handle.

$199 is a great price! Purchase the individual dies that you are interested in. I find the Go *most* useful for triangles (it nips off the "ears"), tumbler and basically any odd shape. For strips, I feel I can do just as well with a June Tailor shape cutter mat.

The Go weighs about 15 lbs. They say the cutters never have to be sharpened. I haven't had mine long enough to find that out yet.

A friend is letting me use hers and OMG!! I love it. I am cutting flowers and leaves. I needed 162 leaves and had them cut out in about 20 mins. Sorry, I got so excited - I forgot what your question was.

Love mine and that price is good. Eventually the mats need to be replaced but they aren't as expensive as the dies.

I love mine.. you buy dies as you want them, you replace mats OFTEN so make sure you have back ups for the back ups and find them on sale if at all possible.. Dont over stuff the machine with too many layers, you will break the crank and not worth the pain for an extra layer of fab..

I just got my Go about 2 weeks ago, from Amazon, I got the Go! Starter Set that also comes with a set of 11 or so dies and extra mats. I also got the 2 1/2" strip cutter die and the large mat for it. I think the price on Amazon may be a better deal because of all the extras, maybe you should check it out, too...I did a lot of research before I decided on the Go...and actually my dh and ds went in together and got it for me for an early Christmas gift...I will put links to my posts at the bottom of this one, as I had a lot of great input from the awesome people here on QB that helped me with my decision.

I've had my Go over three years now. The dies are just as sharp as day one and I don't baby it. I cut paper and lightweight cardstock with hex and circle die. If the dies ever get dull I'll buy more. The mats will have to be replaced after cutting a lot. I use the large tumble more then I thought I would.

Love mine ... takes me forever to rotary cut but I can cut a whole quilt in an hour or two with mine, and I'm a beginner! It's not heavy and doesn't take up a lot of room but the dies and mats do ... mine are scattered all over my bedroom (much to my husband's dismay).

If you get one, all you need is the Go plus whatever dies you need to do your first quilt. There are a lot of Accuquilt-specific patterns on their website, and you can modify others and/or find non-Accuquilt patterns that will still work with existing dies. The dies are where it gets expensive so I just buy them as I need them or put them on my Christmas wish-list.
