Hi! I am making a photo quilt and used June Tailor colorfast fabric sheets for the photos. Does anyone have experience washing a quilt made with photos? I am somewhat petrified to wash this once its quilted for fear of what the photos will look like when done. Thanks! Kim

I would test a block first with a photo printed on in maybe a pillow top? some wash well and others well... not so well

i always test the pictures before adding to the quilt -- the fabric sheet package should give you specific 'care instructions' -- follow the instructions for the best results---some of those (premade ) sheets have to be drycleaned---some hold up to cold water rinse--few will hold up to actual washing with detergent--unless you used a good permenent ink- heat set-rinsed- check the package for the information/instructions you need

I made a T-shirt quilt a few year back for my niece, and used that product. I followed the directions to the letter, but when the quilt was complete and I washed it, it came of the washer with the pictures looking like ghost images. I actually burst into tears. I was able to fix it by printing new pictures and heat appliqueing them directly onto the original pictures, and then did decorative stitches around all of the edges. I made sure to tell my niece to NOT wash the quilt. Not sure if it is dry cleanable either, but I think so.

wow..I've never had a problem and do many picture quilts. I get my fabric sheets from cjenkinscompany.com but
I have used other brands. Once printed on ink jet printer they need to dry...then useing an iron on unprinted side
heat set, do not use steam. Then yo rince fabric sheet in cold water or bubble jet rinse. I've never had my pictures
fade but I have had some thread bleed so now I also use color catchers in the washer!!
