What is your method for squaring up your blocks and your finished top?

In a perfect world, nothing would need to be squared up but I'm not that proficient yet so I end up needing to square up my blocks and quilt.

I've noticed that people have different methods and tricks for squaring. I'd love to hear everyone's tips and tricks.

I use the freezer paper method or use this ruler which is the best square up ruler I have used. Watch the video how to use it.

I square up as I piece a block, everytime I sew a group of pieces together I square them up.
After the block is finished,
I square up the block with a square up ruller.

I use my 12" x 12 1/2" square ruler to make sure blocks are squared before adding sashing.

yep - me too - square up as you go...that why if you're running small you can adjust your 1/4" seam.

Boy, is that an expensive ruler! I draw a square the correct size of the block on thick cardboard, spray the block with starch and stretch/scrunch the block to fit. (I've seen the tutorial on this but did notice 2 ways to improve on it. In the video the block was only pinned at the edges by pulling on the edges. I pull mine from the center out, putting pins in various places through seam allowances, etc. not to pin through a single layer. Then pull the edges out last.) It'll dries to the correct size and stays that way.

Hard to see, but it really works!
