I just heard about the fire this am and was saddened to hear of this big loss! I was in Sisters for their annual quilt show and fell in love with the area. I'm sure she will receive lots of prayers and lots of help to rebuilt her stash.

So sorry for your lose, but no lose of life is good!!
Fire is a terrible thing - I know because, 7/13/71 we lost everything we owned (except for 1 sheet,1 blanket, and a bedspread, hubby grabbed these to wrap children in!) in a house fire. We, had many keepsakes from my grandparents, family, and friends. I was just sick about it for some time, until I gave it some thought - things could have been worse - we could have lost our sons in that fire! I had just moved them to a downstairs bedroom from one upstairs. I was informed that they would have died had they still been up there, because of the smoke, and this had happened in the middle of the night. So, I am very thankful that hubby had gotten thirsty in the middle of the night, saw that the car was on fire, and then discovered that 1/2 the kitchen was also in flames by that time.!
So,I look at as a lose of THINGS, and not people.

So sorry to hear about this. We live in Oregon and it seems eastern/central Oregon always get hit with huge fires in the summer. Most are lightning strikes, but some are caused by carelessness. We all need to be more careful as fire does not discriminate.

What a frightening situation. Her life's work. Hard to even imagine what she must be feeling - I hope the fire is calming down. We are hoping to move to Sisters in a couple of months. The quilting community there is so unbelievable. I just feel terrible for her.

The fire as of 8:00p.m. is 87% contained and under control.
