I just finished a quilt top and I would like to have it quilted on a long arm.
Can anyone tell me how much smaller it will be after it is quilted. Someone told me that it will draws up some or shrink in size after it is quilted.

If so, what will the size of a quilt top that measures 120 x117 end up being..

Right now it looks kind of big on my king size bed and I didn't know if I should try and cut it down some or just leave it..... Thanks :D

100% cotton shrinks 2-4% frequently. If you haven't preshrunk your fabrics you might see that much shrinkage. If you use 100% cotton batting, it too will shrink when washed. I usually preshrink my fabrics, so don't worry about shrinkage after quilting.

How much the quilting shrinks up a quilt depends totally on how much quilting you have done.

I didn't mean after it is quilted and then washed. Sorry about the mix up with my wording [shrink]

I was wondering if it got smaller after it was quilted on a long arm machine? or what I call draw up some LOL

Someone told me it did so was wondering how much..

Thanks

Yes it will "draw" up some with quilting. How much depends on how heavily it is quilted. I don't think it will be enough to worry about, though.

Being put on my frame, I have little shrinkage, it is the washing that I see more.

the person who will be doing the quilting should have some idea of the "shrinkage" by the quilting.
