Just a bunch of pieces of fabric sewn together to make another larger piece of fabric. Usually done in the one color.

I'm going to stick to a slab of clay or concrete slab, these fabric slabs are far to random for me.

Don't feel bad. I've been quilting, teaching, shop owning, designing patterns for over 30 years and I didn't have a clue what "slab" referred to either!

The only "slab" I know is the one my Texas house was built on. Had to follow Kitsie's google idea and opened a whole new world!!

Debra, you're a woman ahead of your time.

Here in Australia, a slab is what we build a house on but it can also be a box of beer.

I posted this on July 5th

I had never made a slab before but I sent the 4 pictured in my post off to Canada for flood victims. It isn't too late if you would like to do one or two and send yours off. The information is in my post.
