Am I missing something? I am in the middle of making my first bow tuck, having sent to US from UK for pattern, and then not been able to get the Pellon required here, I substituted a different batting and uses 505 spray on it. This has turned out fine. My problem is that in the instructons in the pattern, it shows how to make the outside pocket, but nowhere can I find where it tells you when or how to attach it. I have figured it out myself, but I had put the bag together already, so had to attach it near the finish. Has anyone else hit on this, or am I not reading the pattern properly. I have re read and re read the pattern, but I am still not seeing it. Surely this should be part of the instructions.

I added it right after quilting the outside portion. That is how my pattern said to do it. For any future ones, I plan to attach into the seam and leave it loose until I finish the quilting, and then sew it down.

Step 7 in the directions tells you how to attach the outside pocket.

Step 7 in my pattern only tells you how to mae the handles. Obviously there are a number of different patterns for this bag. My pattern is by Quilts Illustrated and designed by Penny Sturges

Hmm I didn't know the patterns were different. Learn something new every day!! Mine is the mini so if yours is the larger one that may be why. Made by the same as yours.

No definitely not step 7 on mine. Altogether there are 16 steps
in my pattern. How does this compare to yours. I have emailed quilts illustrated, and am awaiting a reply from them. OK so I was able to sort it out myself, but it was a bit awkward after the bag was assembled, but it could have been a more difficult instruction that was missing, and really messed things up.

I don't know what step it is, but you assemble the rectangle and the lining is larger than the front of the pocket. When you line up the raw edges the lining will roll to the front. Sew the side seams with right edges together and then turn. Leave the bottom open. To attach the rectangle to the front section you need to match the line they tell you to draw on the bag front with the raw bottom edge of the pocket. The pocket goes under the line, but up against it. So the pocket hangs down towards the bottom of the bag. You sew the seam and then fold it up against the front of the bag and then sew the finished edges down. I think that there is a tutorial with pictures that you can search for.
