I hate to admit this, but the red border around my lonestar was to correct a mistake. I made the corner blocks too large and didn't want to take them all apart and cut them down. So I added the border to make up the size difference. The quilt will have the same red used for the binding, tying everything together. Its actually a deep red with black fabric. Not burgundy at all. The picture doesn't do it justice.

I'm actually working on one. (picture of my progress on my blog karaj.typepad.com).
Cut my strips at 2 1/4". Don't forget to off set the end so that you're not cutting off a huge chunk of unusable strips.

So far... pretty easy.
Here's what mine will look like...

Keep us up-to-date on your progress. I'm afraid to try one, too.

Oh Kara, yours is going to be gorgeous!

So what am i learning so far? hmmm lol I've learned that i don't have the lonestar mastered, but it is being conquered lol. What's the dif? Mastered means the way it's sposed to be, conquered means, fudges and all, it Will obey me!!!!! LOL LOL LOL So this one is going to be fudged and conquered, and hopefully my next one will be mastered lol.

I liked the star, so i couldnt stop with one, i'm turning it into a centre star, with a partial star in all four corners. It might be a wallhanging for over my bed, cus i dont have a headboard, so that would look nice, or it might be the centre medallion to a quilt for my bed, havent decided yet. First i have to get this conquered :) :) :)

Many years ago I took a class on this. Here is the link to the book I have on an easy way to make the lonestar by strip piecing. I see it is now on clearance for $3.00.
