I always considered white a color and it has many shades too.

I was taught that black was all colors and white was the lack of all colors.

White is a color. I remember buying a silk and taffeta wedding gown a long time ago. The same dress was available in cream, but the white cost more. When I asked why, it was because they had to dye the fabrics.

No matter what the rest of the world thinks, quilters probably would consider it a color because we have to factor it into our design if we use it. Different whites play off of other colors and change it all to the eye viewing the final quilt.

As an artist, white is void of color and black is a blend of all primary colors.

As a quilter, we think of them as colors.

Remember adding bluing to your whites to make them whiter? Most fabric softeners are dyed blue  :D:D:D
